When first introduced (back in 2001), this saw shipped with a GE motor, but MK responded to customer feedback and upgraded to Baldor. The Baldor motor out-performs, and out-lasts the equivalent GE model. It costs a little more up front but on a dollars-per-cut basis this is the motor of choice. MK also had 2 production runs with the GE motor in 2007 to take advantage of steep GE discounts. If you want a saw made this year, order this Baldor equipped MK-100.
